~Dizzy Heights~

Our Erlund log house is situated 3km outside Lixouri, in the area called Βαρηκό (Variko), close to the village of Agios Dimitrios.
On the 16th September 2007 the main structural building work began. Backed by a willing team of volunteers lead by Stuart and Jyrki from Finland, the work took 26 days to complete.

The next stages included fitting window surrounds (internal and external), interior doors, internal/external plumbing, solar panel/hot-water tank, running waste pipes to the 'vothros' (Greek for septic tank), flooring, kitchen, bathrooms etc, etc, etc..........

On 22nd December we moved into the Apartment side of the house. It wasn't until 30th January 2008 that we finally received mains electricity after making do with our generator.
The wood flooring finally arrived from Finland on the 15th February which meant that work could continue inside. As a result of the hold-up, the finishing of the roof had to stop. The wood burning stove's flue could not be fitted as there was no floor on which it could stand. The roof was finally completed on the 26th May.

From the 16th - 27th February our bedroom and lounge floors were laid, which enabled us to move out of the Apartment. We had finally made it!!!!

During March, the floors for the Study and Dining room were finished and the inside, as you can see, started to take shape.

The interior is now complete and now in 2010, we are finally through the planning and building permissions procedures and have been signed off.

It is our aim now to concentrate our efforts on the continued development of the exterior and grounds, with more plantings and landscaping.
